About The Position

Located in Morristown, TN, Precision Boilers manufactures industry-leading electric and fuel-fired hot water boilers and steam generators, along with accessories like deaerators and blowdown tanks. Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, the Quality Technician - Nights is responsible for conducting routine inspections of product fabrication throughout the process. This role verifies code compliance and oversees production quality from material receiving to hydrostatic testing and final shipping. The position requires working a night shift schedule.

Requirements

  • Completing an eye examination, Ishihara color test and visual examination (VT) qualification test.
  • Ability to obtain Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Dye Penetrate Testing (PT), and Visual Testing (VT) certifications within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or degree of equivalence (i.e., G.E.D.).
  • 1-3 years of Welding background and/or basic knowledge of application of ASME Code.
  • Aptness at technical problem solving (required).

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of hands-on/applied working knowledge in ASME section IX requirements for Pressure Vessels.
  • Strong math skills.
  • General knowledge for reading, interpreting GD&T and reviewing engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting Incoming Inspection of critical components and materials and perform verification of ASME Code material as applicable.
  • Performing inspection of incoming goods, documenting and reporting inspection results.
  • Notifying warehouse personnel of conforming/acceptable product for release to inventory.
  • Corresponding SCAR and notifying Quality Engineer for product OOS issues.
  • Conducting routine inspection and applicable testing at each individual stage of the fabrication process as indicated on the traveler (Welding, Cabinet & Sheet metal, Electrical, Plumbing, Paint, warehouse, Shipping, etc.).
  • Conducting regular VT inspections at each individual stage of the welding fabrication following inspection protocols.
  • Assisting with ASME code driven examination (VT, MT, PT, RT) and related activities.
  • Assisting with creation of ASME nameplates and verifying data contents are complete and correct, including all product labeling and stickers.
  • Reporting nonconformances identified during routine inspection, assisting with data collection and reporting via quality gate boards and/or e-Database (ProcessMAP).
  • Assisting in conducting internal and external inspection of all vessels prior to hydrostatic testing.
  • Assisting with collecting and reviewing all paperwork required for hydrostatic testing.
  • Potentially providing support with QMS documentation development and/or improvement.
  • Potentially participating in internal and/or external audits (ASME, QMS, suppliers, customer FATs).
  • Participating in engineering drawing feedback loop process for drawing and BOM changes as necessary to support production.
  • Potentially participating in programs, projects, or initiatives related to correction, prevention, and/or improvement of product or process quality (e.g., Kaizen, VSM).
  • Maintaining work area in a clean and safe manner.
  • Observing all safety precautions, rules, and regulations.
  • Complying with and helping enforce standard policies and procedures.
