About The Position

The Quality Technician conducts detailed inspections of fabricated parts, in process control inspections. Conducts audits of packaged, staged and loaded shipments to ensure compliance with Ply Gem quality requirements and specifications. This role requires adherence to all safety rules and precautions for a manufacturing environment, monitoring, inspecting, and reporting on assigned activities and finished goods to ensure quality. The technician will submit clear, concise, and accurate reports of inspections, audits, test results, job site visits, and delivered goods. They will also conduct tests using various tools and equipment, prepare daily quality control activity summaries, and assist in developing and implementing objectives, plans, and priorities to achieve quality control objectives in a timely manner. Communication with the Quality Manager regarding methods and problem-solving procedures is essential, as is assisting with and periodically delivering internal/external audits. Continuous improvement practices in the work area are expected, and additional projects may be assigned. The role involves completing and presenting basic Root Cause analysis, inspecting all incoming raw materials per the inspection plan, and recording/maintaining receiving inspection results. Completing first article quality reports, in-process verification of calibration tools, and maintaining the gage calibration database are key responsibilities. The technician will perform product tests and record results during manufacturing, ensure adherence to production practices and product quality standards, and assist in documenting and resolving nonconforming material and process discrepancies. Evaluating product acceptability and performing start-up and changeover audits to verify product specifications are also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary, and the role includes performing Test Water Wall duties, including loading/unloading units and performing failure investigations as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend documents including policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings.
  • Ability to perform general mathematic calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve problems which involve multiple variables in a standard situation.
  • High degree of concentration.
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a diversified work force.
  • Ability to read different measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, protractor, micrometer).
  • High level of Excel knowledge and Data Analysis.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
