About The Position

Sonoco is a global leader in packaging solutions with diversified operations in over 34 countries. The Quality Technician I-II role is responsible for problem-solving to ensure customer quality expectations are met. This involves measuring critical product/process variables, recording and reporting data, and utilizing information for continuous improvement. The technician has the authority to stop operations if processes are not within established limits or specifications. Additionally, this role includes Safety Coordinator functions to ensure safety procedures, standards, and metrics are up-to-date.

Requirements

  • At least one year experience in quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Safety conscious mindset and approach
  • Previous experience with Calibration of test equipment, operation of test equipment, and root cause/corrective action skills
  • Must have a “get it done” attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.
  • Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Read and understand manufacturing instructions.
  • Perform repetitious duties, including stairs and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Must have knowledge of computer-based programs – Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Conducting required off-line testing for products.
  • Ensuring all customer feedbacks are completed on time, root cause is identified and implemented.
  • Assisting in analyzing all customer feedbacks for trends and continuous improvement.
  • Involved in corrective action and preventive action process.
  • Process capability studies as deemed necessary.
  • Maintaining process for document control.
  • Documenting COA’s, COC’s as required.
  • Defining quality concepts and quality processes, including statistical basics, etc.; applies quality tools; interprets information and data; applies team concepts.
  • Inspection and testing techniques, including various types of sampling plans.
  • Understanding and applying various quality audit types and their components, tools, and techniques.
  • Tracking and updating Safety metrics and other KPIs
  • Lead Safety Monday Huddle Meetings
  • Participate Strongly in Safety Program
