About The Position

This role will be responsible for upholding the quality values that are expected of the Rough Country team at the Washington facility. At the production floor level, the quality associate will ensure that the vacuum forming, packaging, receiving, and shipping personnel are meeting quality standards and will help instill said values in new hires while helping coach associates on new or existing processes. This role will become a subject matter expert in plastics, but will be utilized across the entire facility for a wide variety of tasks.

Requirements

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work with multiple teams, for example, manufacturing, packaging and shipping, and tooling to ensure quality requirements are adhered to.
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to use measuring devices such as calipers, gauges, etc.
  • Communicate with other associates
  • Follow Rough Country Policies and Procedures as outlined in the company handbook
  • Exhibits diplomacy with both management and associates

Responsibilities

  • Create & update work instructions
  • New product review “FIR / FAR” (kit reviews)
  • Support IATF in coordination with the quality manager or other departments.
  • Obtain - Internal Auditor Certification to IATF/ISO & AIAG Core Tools. (Rough Country Provided)
  • Random inspections of process adherence in all areas, to include but not limited to, vacuum forming, packaging, receiving, and shipping.
  • Collaborative discussions with management and associates to coach them for success and to allow direct input from the production floor into our quality plans.
  • Participates in the launch of new products on the floor within Vacuum Forming to ensure we start off with accurate data and work instructions, to include recording inspections as required.
  • Researches customer complaints & checks existing inventory.
  • Primary contact point for customer service complaints that require intervention on the customer’s behalf.
  • Reinforce quality requirements on products to include part conformance and packaging to ensure safe delivery of a product that has failed shipment or product quality previously.
  • Support cross-functional teams for Quality Alerts, Corrective Actions, and completing 8D’s as needed.
  • Leverage / coordinate cross functional team(s) to support 8D process. Internal and external as requested by our customers.
  • Supports inventory containment activities.
  • Quantity, Quality, and Manufacturing to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Part of a cross-functional team to conduct time studies to build efficient and repeatable processes.
  • Develop/create, edit, and distribute work instructions for specific parts and generic processes.
  • Develop/create and edit tooling work instructions.
  • Maintain DM Log – “Defective Material” Log and communicate with suppliers and manage plastic sheet inventory.
  • Utilize inventory control software to update inventory of plastic sheet.
  • Communicate with the manufacturing team the status of suspect plastic sheet material.
  • Maintain the gauge calibration process, to include coordinating calibration activities with vendor.
