The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Quality Control Technician to join our Quality team in Morgan Hill. Reporting to the Director of Quality Management, this role is responsible for performing microbiological testing and sterility checks to ensure culture media products meet established standards, customer specifications, and quality goals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a microbiology background who thrives in a laboratory environment and is passionate about maintaining high-quality standards in scientific production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in microbiology testing and laboratory work, or relevant hands-on academic lab experience
  • Strong knowledge of microbiology principles and laboratory techniques (e.g., serial dilution, plate streaking, colony interpretation)
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment such as incubators, pipettes, and pH meters
  • Ability to accurately record, analyze, and interpret data
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP), aseptic technique, and lab safety procedures

Responsibilities

  • Prepare reagents and biological stains; perform and document microbiological growth and identification tests
  • Conduct sterility testing on culture media products
  • Execute quality control testing for product release, ensuring products meet required specifications before shipment
  • Record, verify, and document QC results; perform retesting when necessary
  • Monitor and document performance of laboratory instruments and equipment (e.g., pH meters, calipers, packaging equipment)
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to communicate product release timelines
  • Support special microbiology projects and additional QC initiatives as assigned
  • Ensure all work aligns with quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
