About The Position

GHSP, based in West Michigan, is a leading global supplier of mechanical and electromechanical systems to the automotive, transportation, and appliance industry. GHSP is currently hiring a 2nd Shift Quality Technician to join our Quality team in Grand Haven.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Quality Engineering or equivalent required
  • 1-3+ years’ experience - Automotive lean manufacturing and quality assurance systems for manufacturing

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates internal quality communications.
  • Relates quality alerts and suspect part status to Manufacturing and Engineering.
  • Gathers and posts all relevant OPS/Quality metrics information. Facilitates and/or attends Production Team meetings. Ensures that quality postings are clear and current. Conducts shop floor audits and relates findings to appropriate individuals. Manages quality files for documented information as required by the appropriate procedures and policies.
  • Ensures all Production Teams understand GHSP quality standards and policies.
  • Introduces new employees to GHSP quality standards and policies. Demonstrates correct usage of metrology equipment. Trains Team Leaders and Coordinators on job-specific quality standards. Ensures Team Leaders and Coordinators have the information and tools needed to operate within the appropriate quality standards requirements.
  • Supports Manufacturing.
  • Supports manufacturing shark attacks that are related to measurement related issues. Helps problem solve the issue and develop an action plan. Helps determine if issues are process, part, or measurement system related. Performs quality related training in regards to measurement tools. Utilizes blueprints, control plans, FMEAs, and metrology skills along with problem solving activity, to accurately assess the nature of part discrepancies that may be related to measurement issues.
  • Develops and maintains Work Instructions.
  • Be a key member of the plant launch/change teams. Develops and updates quality related shop floor documents including inspection sheets and lot traceability sheets. Utilizes knowledge of the customer, the product and the process to evaluate the effectiveness of work instructions and modifies for continuous improvement.
  • Manages supplier product issues.
  • Maintains strong understanding of GHSP supplier products. Responsible for investigation of defective part complaints and completion of the Material Complaint Notice. Uses the PTR database and communicates the issue and requirements to the supplier. Prepares product for supplier returns.
