About The Position

As a Quality Inspector at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in ensuring product compliance through inspections, testing, process monitoring, and quality audits. This role supports manufacturing operations by verifying product quality, maintaining calibration standards, and helping drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of quality inspection experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards, inspection procedures, and quality control processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math skills for measurements, testing, and calibration activities.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring equipment, including: Micrometers, Calipers, Tape measures, Coating thickness gauges, Other inspection instruments.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, bandsaws, cutoff saws, and hydraulic presses.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and testing equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and measurements.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices in accordance with regulatory standards and company policy.
  • Calibrate testing equipment daily, including micrometers, calipers, and coating thickness gauges.
  • Assist in calibrating pH meters, conductivity meters, and refractometers.
  • Support titration testing of process tanks to ensure operational efficiency and process control.
  • Perform random quality audits of finished products to verify compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Notify mill management when products are out of tolerance and verify corrective actions are implemented.
  • Identify, document, and track non-conforming products.
  • Perform inventory checks and communicate supply requirements to appropriate personnel.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities with operations teams.
  • Communicate ongoing quality concerns and trends to the QA Manager and QA Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, testing, and calibration records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Quality Department objectives.
  • Maintain regular, full-time onsite attendance.
