Quality Technician – Multiple Shifts (Day/Night)

About The Position

Performs physical and visual inspections of product and Quality Systems. Documents results accurately and ensures that finished products meet all of US Cotton's Quality Standards.

Requirements

  • Normal math skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required.
  • Must be able read and write English
  • Able to exercise good judgement with excellent problem identification and problem-solving skills.
  • Functions well under pressure with a good work ethic and attitude.
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Must follow all PPE policies by wearing reflective vest, hearing protection, safety glasses, and hair nets as required.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, pulling and pushing up to 30 lbs., unassisted.
  • Must be able to bend, reach and turn frequently.
  • Must be able to stand and move about the facility.
  • Frequently (more than 75% of time) required to: stand and/or walk, climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch.
  • Lift, carry and/or move items up to 30 lbs., without assistance; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, to verbally communicate, write and to hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use a hand-jack.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to dust and loud noise, and fumes (MSDS sheets available upon request).
  • Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to machinery and mechanical, moving parts.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and finished product testing to ensure products are produced according to set specifications (stick diameter, length, stick weight, 90° bent test, stick flex strength, etc.).
  • Place product that does not meet US Cotton's Quality Standards on QA Hold.
  • Verify that stick quantities are within the acceptable range (box count).
  • Accurately complete Quality Assurance records.
  • Communicate issues and concerns to management regarding operating procedures and conditions.
  • Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices & complete an internal audit on a monthly basis.
  • Communicate issues found (quality, compliance, documentation of quality records, equipment etc.) to the Supervisor and follow-up to verify that issues are corrected.
  • Ensure that product is correctly packaged.
  • Assure that correct product code / labels are properly placed on box or skid.
  • Complete Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each lot produced.
  • Complete all special projects and assignments as directed by the QA Manager.
  • Assist with validations as required.
  • Perform other duties and special tasks as assigned.
