They are a manufacturer of material handling and fall protection products for the production and warehouse/distribution sectors. Gorbel is a thriving, growing company focused on innovation and elevating products and processes. They are currently hiring for open positions in the US and Canada. Work Shift: Job Description: To ensure quality of products received and through processes in the facility meet or exceed Gorbel quality and specifications. This will involve inspection of items when received and inspection of sub-assemblies and assemblies produced through dimensional visual and functions inspection or testing. Process nonconforming material using standard process and drives action for resolution with teams.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least four years of manufacturing experience
  • Mechanical ability
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of inspection tools, measuring devices and GD&T methods
  • Knowledge of basic welding.
  • Ability to inspect and test welds a plus
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn problem solving methods and tools
  • Computer literate in Microsoft and Excel.
  • Ability to do basic graphs and analysis of data would be desired
  • Ability to travel to other Gorbel sites (< 10%)

Nice To Haves

  • AAS degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance
  • Knowledge of paint and associated processes. Ability to inspect and analyze related problems
  • Knowledge of functioning of electrical and electro-mechanical systems. Ability to understand working of functional tests analyze related problems

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and tests incoming material, work in process and final assemblies using defined procedure and leads follow through actions.
  • Documents inspection results in computer or paper-based records.
  • Able to participate in review of new measurement techniques and learn to use and apply them.
  • Makes material transactions as needed: Moves accepted parts into inventory, unacceptable parts to quarantine, updates computer records.
  • Follows non-conformance procedures to visually identify, communicate, and quarantine material.
  • Participates or provides input to Material Review Board for proper disposition of material.
  • Updates computer records needed for analysis.
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications to ensure products and processes comply with Gorbel specifications.
  • Interfaces with other departments to resolve issues.
  • Drives action for nonconforming issues, scrap, rework with appropriate owners.
  • Maintains records of inspections and prepares list of defects that would be used for analysis.
  • Develops and participates in defining quality standards where needed. For example, visual standards for Weld, Paint. Functional tests for electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Completes weld destructive and non-destructive tests as defined.
  • May also need to help develop the tests and document them.
  • Completes functional testing to check fit for use or audits functional test results to ensure continued compliance.
  • Communicates inspection results and inventory issues with required individuals.
  • Maintains testing equipment and calibrates equipment per defined frequency to ensure accuracy.
  • Participate and contribute in problem solving and continuous improvement teams.
  • Assists other departments as required.
