About The Position

As a Quality Technician, you will perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of in-process batches, raw materials, and finished products for purposes such as quality control, process control, or product development. This role involves setting up, adjusting, calibrating, and operating laboratory equipment, testing samples to verify conformity to specifications, and maintaining quality records. You will also conduct incoming raw materials testing and routine production quality checks to ensure products meet specifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to clearly identify and communicate issues that need to be addressed and to take the necessary steps to avoid future errors.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
  • Inspection, test and product evaluation experience.
  • General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma methodologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of in-process batches, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Verify formula and component specifications on batch tickets.
  • Set up, adjust, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as paint guns, mixers, viscometers, chemical balances, pH meters, gloss meters, solids analyzer, spectrophotometer, and other equipment.
  • Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
  • Record test results on batch tickets and in the company’s computer operating system.
  • Organize and maintain quality records and retains of production batches.
  • Evaluate retains of production batches in response to quality complaints.
  • Conduct in-coming raw materials testing, ensuring conformance to required specifications.
  • Perform routine production quality checks to ensure finished products are filled and packaged according to specifications.
  • Perform occasional quality audits of laboratory and production work instructions to ensure compliance to the company’s Quality Policy.
