About The Position

As a Quality Technician III – NDT Level III Examiner (PT, VT) you will serve as a technical authority ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of critical components at SEL. In this role, you will lead, execute, and oversee nondestructive testing activities, develop and approve NDT procedures, perform advanced inspections, and ensure compliance with ASNT and other applicable requirements. This position functions as a subject matter expert for VT and PT inspections, provides technical oversight and audit surveillance, and ensures compliance with fabrication, welding, and NDT specifications. The role requires U.S. Citizenship and is ideal for an experienced NDT professional who thrives in leading inspection activities, training and certifying personnel, and driving continuous improvement in quality systems. Note: United States Citizenship is required As a Quality Technician III - NDT Level III Examiner, a typical day might include the following: Establish and approve NDT procedures and other NDT related work instructions for technical adequacy and compliance to requirements. Perform VT and PT NDT inspections and document results per specification requirements. Review, administer, and perform surveillance audits to ensure compliance with NAVSEA fabrication, welding, and NDT specifications. Prepare technical reports as result of findings during oversight, research and development, and problem resolution investigations. Maintain company standards, procedures, best practices, and process improvements in the field of NDT. Conduct the training, examination and certification of personnel in the methods certified. This job might be for you if you are a US Citizen and you have: Current Level III certification in PT and VT as ASNT SNT-TC-1A, T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, or NAVSEA 250-1500-01 Examiner A B.S. degree (or higher) in engineering or science, plus one year of experience as an NDT Level II PT (Penetrant) and VT (Visual) or: Completion of 2 years of engineering/science study at a university, college, or technical school, plus 2 years of experience as an NDT Level II PT (Penetrant) and VT (Visual) or: 4 years of experience as an NDT Level II PT (Penetrant) and VT (Visual) Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to serve as project lead or technical expert while witnessing inspections Ability to understand basic principles of multiple NDT methods and applications to determine weld and base metal performance Ability to independently perform and train personnel in all the duties of an NDT Helper (entry level position), Level I Operator, and Level II Inspector Effective interpersonal and written or verbal communication skills

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Current Level III certification in PT and VT as ASNT SNT-TC-1A, T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, or NAVSEA 250-1500-01 Examiner A
  • B.S. degree (or higher) in engineering or science, plus one year of experience as an NDT Level II PT (Penetrant) and VT (Visual) or: Completion of 2 years of engineering/science study at a university, college, or technical school, plus 2 years of experience as an NDT Level II PT (Penetrant) and VT (Visual) or: 4 years of experience as an NDT Level II PT (Penetrant) and VT (Visual)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to serve as project lead or technical expert while witnessing inspections
  • Ability to understand basic principles of multiple NDT methods and applications to determine weld and base metal performance
  • Ability to independently perform and train personnel in all the duties of an NDT Helper (entry level position), Level I Operator, and Level II Inspector
  • Effective interpersonal and written or verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass an eye exam with corrected or uncorrected vision
  • Ability to differentiate color
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with/to NAVSEA and Military specifications
  • NDT Level III MT and/or RT certification
  • Experience creating NDT process documentation (written practice, NDT procedures)
