Quality Technician II, Inspector (2nd shift)
About The Position
Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Technician II, Inspector in our Carson, California location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. This role performs detailed dimensional inspection for customer over-inspection and source inspection on behalf of customers as defined in customer delegation procedures. The incumbent will complete defective material reports, data processing move transactions, and first article reports as required. They will communicate with department supervision as necessary and may be held to established quality standards. The Inspector will have control to make minor adjustments to the process after tasks are assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience performing dimensional and visual inspection of manufactured parts
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and inspection requirements
Responsibilities
- Inspect parts visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications and customer requirements.
- Utilize all precision measuring equipment and techniques as applicable, including micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
- Request N.D.T. evaluations as necessary.
- Use statistical sampling plans; complete/verify various inspection reports-including S.P.C. charts, first article reports, and defective material and test reports.
- Complete data processing move transactions as required.
- Communicate any daily activities that may need to be passed forward to the next shift.
- Read blueprints, and to use different gages, such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, threat gages, pain gages, high gages, specs, protrusion blocks, etc.
- Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
- Other duties and/or responsibilities may be performed as part of cross-training or employee development plan.
