About The Position

The primary purpose of the Quality Technician I role is to ensure the quality of products through daily line audits, meeting or exceeding standards set by MSI Express, the customer, and federal and state compliance. This role involves core responsibilities related to checking process and finished product specifications. The Quality Technician approves batches to run and monitors that essential checks are being performed. This position also has responsibility for Food Safety and Quality within their influence, requiring associates to report any Food Safety and Quality problems in a timely manner to personnel with the authority to initiate action. The role requires adherence to all company policies, including general manufacturing and safety practices, and involves coaching production associates on line data collections. Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift.
  • Appropriate eye, hand and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of the products through daily line audits to meet or exceed standards.
  • Approve/correct batches by mastering basic lab techniques, math/formulas, and testing equipment.
  • Perform lab checks, monitoring specified items according to Quality SOPs.
  • Perform pre-ops and Preventive Control (PC) checks.
  • Notify appropriate personnel and complete specific tasks per SOP if a noncompliance is found.
  • Perform all required analytical tests per given procedures (e.g., VC, Salt, Brix, PH, DS meter, TA, Vit C, compare batch against control and sensory audits).
  • Perform all required physical tests of raw material and finished product to ensure they meet customer procedures.
  • Perform special audits as needed for raw materials or product on hold.
  • Report Food Safety and Quality problems in a timely manner to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Follow all company policies, including general manufacturing and safety practices.
  • Coach production associates on line data collections.
  • Perform any other duties as instructed by management.
