About The Position

The primary purpose of the Quality Technician I role is to ensure the quality of products through daily line audits, meeting or exceeding standards set by MSI Express, the customer, and federal and state compliance. This role involves checking process and finished product specifications, approving batches to run, and monitoring that core checks are being performed. The position also holds responsibility for Food Safety and Quality within their influence, requiring timely reporting of any issues to initiate corrective actions. Adherence to all company policies, including general manufacturing and safety practices, is expected. Additionally, the role involves coaching production associates on line data collections and performing other duties as instructed by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift.
  • Appropriate eye, hand, and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Pass all company testing.
  • Ability to follow written directions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Ability to process quality documentation accurately and within a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Approve/correct batches by mastering basic lab techniques, using math/formulas, and operating testing equipment.
  • Perform lab checks according to Quality SOPs and monitor specified items.
  • Perform pre-ops and Preventive Control (PC) checks.
  • Notify appropriate personnel and complete specific tasks per SOP when a noncompliance is found.
  • Perform all required analytical tests per given procedures (e.g., VC, Salt, Brix, PH, DS meter, TA, Vit C, compare batch against control and sensory audits).
  • Perform all required physical tests of raw material and finished product to ensure they meet customer-given procedures.
  • Perform special audits as needed for raw materials or product on hold.
  • Report Food Safety and Quality problems in a timely manner to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Follow all company policies, including general manufacturing and safety practices.
  • Coach production associates on line data collections.
  • Perform any other duties as instructed by management.
