About The Position

L3Harris Quality Organization in Rochester, NY is looking for an In-Process Inspector. We are seeking a detail-oriented inspector to perform visual and dimensional inspections of space flight components and assemblies. This individual may also be responsible for performing tests, analyses and/or audits of complex products or processes to include microelectronics, optical components, mechanical components, test equipment and fully integrated systems to ensure quality standards and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; Or, 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise, accurate inspections
  • Proficiency with mechanical inspection equipment and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills, including clear documentation, technical writing, and presentation abilities
  • Experience working in cleanroom or controlled environments
  • Familiarity with SPC and other quality improvement methodologies; knowledge of NASA Standards, IPC certifications, and GD&T preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and travel for source inspections or program support as needed

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine inspection criteria
  • Document inspection results accurately and clearly; complete final inspection reports as needed
  • Maintain company quality inspection plans, procedures, and documentation
  • Support and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance the quality system
  • Conduct audits of applicable production products and record results
  • Perform quality audit functions across all manufacturing products
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to communicate quality issues and support root cause investigations
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of inspection procedures and protocols
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations; maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration status is current
  • Ability to obtain US Government security clearance
