Requirements

  • High School/GED
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience
  • Experience performing calibration or precision measurement using dimensional/mechanical instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, torque, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic GD&T.
  • Working understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 principles (traceability, calibration documentation, measurement uncertainty basics).
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately record calibration or measurement results.
  • Experience using a calibration management or documentation system.
  • Strong analytical/problem‑solving ability to determine equipment status and detect out‑of‑tolerance conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Metrology, Precision Measurement, Mechanical Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 4-5 years of experience in calibration, dimensional inspection, or precision measurement in an aerospace or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Working understanding of measurement uncertainty analysis and its application in calibration decision‑making.
  • Hands‑on experience developing or improving calibration procedures, work instructions, or uncertainty budgets.
  • Prior experience supporting internal or external audits (ISO 17025, AS9100, customer audits).
  • Familiarity with statistical process control, measurement system analysis (MSA), or gage R&R.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with calibration management systems, SPC software, or 3D modeling viewers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment performance, measurement discrepancies, and root‑cause issues with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Performs calibration, verification, and functional checks of measurement and test equipment (M&TE), including dimensional, mechanical, and electrical instruments. Ensures all work aligns with internal calibration standards and applicable external requirements.
  • Reviews engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data to determine accuracy requirements. Interprets tolerances and GD&T to select proper calibration methods, equipment, and measurement setups.
  • Conducts routine and moderately complex calibrations using approved procedures, reference standards, and precision tools. Evaluates measurement results, identifies out‑of‑tolerance conditions, and documents findings accurately.
  • Maintains complete and compliant calibration records, including results, certifications, measurement uncertainty considerations, and traceability data, within the calibration management system.
  • Performs incoming inspection and verification of new or outsourced calibrated equipment, ensuring certificates meet traceability and accuracy requirements.
  • Provides technical support for equipment discrepancies, measurement issues, and out‑of‑tolerance investigations. Works with Quality and Engineering to assist in root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Applies GD&T knowledge when validating tooling, fixtures, and measurement setups to confirm alignment with engineering intent and capability requirements.
  • Supports improvements to calibration procedures, work instructions, and documentation processes to enhance consistency and accuracy.
  • Provides user guidance on proper care, use, and handling of calibrated equipment to maintain accuracy and reduce risk of damage.
  • Supports internal audits and assessments by supplying calibration data and explaining metrology processes as needed.
