We boldly go. The work is On-Site (5 days). This role involves conducting quality assurance inspections and using findings to improve production processes and standards. You will investigate quality issues, identify root causes, initiate corrective actions, and verify resolution. You will participate in Root Cause Analysis and structured problem-solving activities. You will collaborate with Engineering and Production to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and develop repair/rework instructions. You will maintain accurate documentation of non-conforming materials, defects, and inspection results. You will escalate relevant defects to Quality Engineering and/or Supplier Quality. You will create quality alerts and execute containment activities as needed. You will perform inspections of raw materials, in‑process components, and final assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications. You will ensure proper calibration, validation, and safe operation of inspection equipment. You will conduct internal audits of departments and workstations, identifying opportunities for process improvement. You will support metric reporting using the Quality Management System and Manufacturing Execution System. You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of technical components and processes involved in chiller assembly. You will perform first‑piece, in‑process, and final inspections on parts and assemblies. You will support the development and maintenance of Control Plans and quality system documentation. You will assist with training and coaching on quality processes, standards, and tools. You will compile weekly and monthly reports as required. You will lead problem-solving initiatives to improve quality, safety, and Takt attainment. You will analyze data to reduce defects, rework, and external failures, and to improve customer satisfaction. You will ensure quality and process requirements are clearly understood and consistently followed. You will partner with Engineering and Operations to establish capable, effective quality plans and processes. You will collect, report, and communicate quality metrics and issues. You will conduct process audits and support implementation of improvements. You will support the Quality Management System by delivering compliant products and meeting quality objectives. You will read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and requirements. You will use precision measurement tools, instruments, and electrical testing equipment (e.g., voltmeters). You will participate in MDI meetings and follow Standard Work and Escalation Plans. You will perform other duties as assigned. This role is part of the Quality team supporting Manufacturing and Engineering at our Grand Rapids, MI facility. We are committed to strong values, culture, and engagement. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical and mechanical systems testing or repair.
  • Two years of college/technical school, four years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (MDI, Kaizen, 5S, etc.).
  • Proficiency with quality inspection methods and processes.
  • Flexibility with work schedule.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and assembly operations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Skilled in blueprint reading and knowledgeable in GD&T.
  • Basic understanding of compressor-related components and critical features.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
