Quality Systems Technician
About The Position
Cogitic Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Systems Technician to support its precision manufacturing operations in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The role supports mission-critical manufacturing for the U.S. Navy and national defense, with responsibilities extending beyond traditional quality inspection to include Quality Management Systems (QMS), ISO 9001 and applicable manufacturing standards, auditing, supplier quality assurance, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. The technician helps ensure quality requirements are met through collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Mission Assurance. Quality records, audit reports, and manufacturing documentation are maintained using ProShop ERP. The role includes approximately 10% travel for supplier oversight and requires U.S. citizenship, a successful background check, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of manufacturing experience, or a completed manufacturing internship plus 3 years of manufacturing experience.
- At least 2 years of Quality Management System (QMS) experience.
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality assurance, quality processes, and documentation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, 2D/3D models, and GD&T.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and quality reporting.
- Ability to travel approximately 10% for supplier oversight.
- U.S. citizenship, successful background check, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
- ISO 9001 or AS9100 Lead Auditor Certification.
- Experience with internal audits, supplier quality, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Experience in precision machining, aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing.
- ProShop ERP experience.
Responsibilities
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable manufacturing quality standards.
- Conduct internal quality audits and participate in customer, supplier, and registrar audits.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct supplier audits, maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL), and resolve quality issues.
- Support root cause analysis, nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective action requests (CARs), and preventive action requests (PARs).
- Maintain quality records, audit reports, and manufacturing documentation using ProShop ERP.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality processes, supplier performance, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Mission Assurance to ensure quality requirements are met.
