Quality Systems & Supplier Quality Manager

EH Group•Nyon, Vaud
•Onsite

About The Position

EH Group (EHG) is hiring a Quality Manager to own one quality system across its established MW-scale production facility in Nyon, Switzerland, and its new US operation in Houston, Texas. The role is based in Nyon and owns quality for the US operation as it stands up. The aim is to ensure that product specifications, control plans, acceptance criteria, and records are identical across both sites, supporting customer confidence, certification, and warranty requirements. During the first year, the role will harmonize the quality management system across both entities, establish Houston controls aligned with those proven in Nyon as manufacturing technology transfers, develop supplier quality with Supply Chain for a shared global supply base, and support certification for European and US markets. Regular travel to Houston is expected, as well as travel to supplier and partner sites in Europe and the US. The manager will oversee quality systems, production and supplier controls, contract manufacturing and assembly partners, nonconformance and corrective action, traceability, product records, regional certification, and quality culture. The position also involves defining and building the US quality capability, including recruiting as volumes grow. Swiss work authorization or eligibility and the ability to travel to the United States are required.

Requirements

  • Experience owning quality across more than one manufacturing site, ideally in more than one country, with the ability to maintain the same standard across sites remotely.
  • Experience establishing or substantially rebuilding a quality function, including authoring a quality management system.
  • Hands-on production experience in in-process and incoming quality, including familiarity with control plans, inspection methods, measurement systems, and process capability.
  • Supplier quality experience, including auditing suppliers and holding them to standards.
  • Experience with structured problem solving and root cause analysis, with a track record of permanently resolving recurring defects.
  • Working knowledge of product certification processes and their evidence requirements; experience in energy, power equipment, or another regulated product category is ideal.
  • Sound judgment about which controls are essential at low volume and which can be deferred, and confidence in maintaining quality standards under schedule pressure.
  • Comfort working across time zones and influencing a site remotely, including building quality capability from a distance.
  • Swiss work authorization or eligibility and ability to travel to the United States.
  • Ability to travel regularly to Houston and to supplier and partner sites in Europe and the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Fuel cell, battery cell, or similar electrochemical assembly experience.
  • Experience with cleanliness-critical or contamination-sensitive assembly processes.
  • Experience supporting technology transfer between sites or countries and establishing quality at the receiving site.
  • Experience qualifying and auditing contract manufacturers or system integrators.
  • Startup or scale-up experience as an early hire during hyper-growth.
  • Experience working between Europe and the US, particularly familiarity with US codes and certification practice.
  • French language skills.
  • Exposure to both European and US certification regimes.

Responsibilities

  • Own a common quality management system covering the Nyon and Houston entities, including the path to ISO 9001 certification in the US and alignment with the system established in Switzerland.
  • Maintain equivalence between sites through common product specifications, control plans, inspection criteria, and acceptance standards, with a defined process for applying changes at both locations.
  • Oversee in-process quality for fuel cell stack production at both sites, including cleanliness and contamination control, leak testing, torque and compression control, and alignment.
  • Develop supplier quality for the shared global supply base with Supply Chain, including supplier qualification, audits, first article inspection, part submission, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Oversee quality at contract manufacturing and assembly partners producing balance of plant and containerized systems in both regions, including audits, quality agreements, source inspection, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage nonconformance and corrective action across both sites, including NCR and CAPA processes and structured problem solving, and ensure findings at one site are systematically applied at the other.
  • Establish a common lot genealogy and product-record model from raw material through stack serial number to delivered system, including test and inspection data supporting warranty, certification, and customer acceptance.
  • Work with external certification partners on standards applicable to stationary hydrogen power systems in Europe and the US, authority having jurisdiction approvals, and marine classification where relevant.
  • Build quality culture at both production sites through operator training, work-instruction discipline, and transferring established practices to Houston as its headcount grows.
  • Define which quality capabilities should be located in Houston and which should be run centrally from Nyon, and recruit into the US capability as volumes grow.
  • Travel regularly to Houston and to supplier and partner sites in Europe and the US.
