As a Quality Systems Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop and launch automated body and vehicle dimensional measurement systems that enable world-class build quality. You will start in centralized Manufacturing Engineering and transition into the assembly plant environment as programs move into launch and production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in Body Manufacturing and/or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience with body shop automated system development, including processing, design, construction, and integration phases
  • Proven project management experience with suppliers and integrators to ensure on-time delivery
  • Expertise in body manufacturing and assembly processes with experience in dimensional quality and/or measurement systems
  • General knowledge of statistics and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and facilitate cross-functional teams and train others in new techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with inspection systems using moving and fixed cameras
  • Body shop launch and plant experience
  • Experience troubleshooting tooling issues and driving root-cause corrective action
  • Dimensional process control experience
  • GOM software proficiency
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter Visualization/Mockup
  • Manufacturing processing and/or vehicle launch experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of automated body and vehicle dimensional measurement systems in partnership with ME Body Quality, BIW/GA Manufacturing Engineering, Controls/Robotics/Conveyance, Launch Execution, and Plant Dimensional teams
  • Define detailed zone processes, conversion timing, and cost estimates for new and existing programs, ensuring all deliverables meet program timing
  • Develop Statements of Requirements (SOR) for measurement, tooling, and automation systems
  • Define dimensional measurement strategies with VDQM, Body and GA Quality Leads, and Plant Dimensional personnel
  • Manage system development from concept through processing, tool design, build, integration, installation, and dimensional validation in assembly plants and/or metal centers
  • Deliver a tuned-in body that meets Manufacturing Validation requirements, including MV-1 and PED114
  • Capture lessons learned and continuous improvement ideas and drive them into standards, procedures, processes, and tool designs
  • Lead cross-functional project teams, managing deliverables, timing, investments, resources, and structured problem solving
