Position Summary: The Quality Systems Engineer (QSE) is responsible for governing and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and internal operational goals. The QSE role extends beyond documentation and compliance to include process optimization, supplier quality integration, data analytics, and cross-functional leadership. At MAS, the QSE serves as a technical quality leader, embedding quality principles into product development, manufacturing, supplier management, and service operations—supporting both custom HVAC modifications and advanced product platforms serving mission-critical markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience working directly in QMS with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems (AS9100, ISO 13485, IATF 16949).
  • Proven experience conducting internal and supplier audits.
  • Demonstrated experience with internal audits, CAPA leadership, and quality data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality documentation systems.

Nice To Haves

  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or ASQ certification.
  • Experience supporting custom-engineered or low-to-medium volume manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, thermal management, or mission-critical infrastructure products.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) from a quality systems perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a system-level expert of the ISO 9001–compliant QMS, ensuring alignment with customer, regulatory, and business requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and records.
  • Evaluate existing quality processes, identify gaps, and implement system-level improvements.
  • Ensure effective document control, record retention, and change management across all QMS documentation.
  • Assist in management review preparation, execution, and follow-up actions, including KPI analysis, risk evaluation, audit results, and continuous improvement planning.
  • Monitor external standard updates and ensure timely integration into internal systems.
  • Plan, conduct, and document internal audits to verify process conformity, effectiveness, and readiness for external audits.
  • May lead supplier audits (remote and onsite), assess supplier risk, and drive corrective actions when gaps are identified.
  • Serve as a primary interface during customer, certification body, and regulatory audits.
  • Monitor audit trends to identify systemic risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Track audit findings, ensure timely corrective actions, and trend systemic audit issues across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance to the CAPA process lifecycle: initiation, root cause identification, action planning, implementation, verification of effectiveness, and closure.
  • Actively participate and document cross-functional CAPA review boards and escalation of systemic issues as needed.
  • Ensure lessons learned are institutionalized across the organization.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions using data and trend analysis.
  • Drive preventive actions based on performance metrics, audit results, and risk assessments rather than reactive fixes.
  • Analyze quality and operational data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement (audit trends, defect rates, supplier performance, and COPQ).
  • Define and track key quality metrics (KPIs) related to defects, audit findings, supplier performance, and process capability.
  • Partner with teams to drive data-based improvement projects aligned with Lean and continuous improvement principles.
  • Support new product introductions and process changes by ensuring quality system readiness and risk mitigation.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to support Lean, Kaizen, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Own the calibration and measurement control system for inspection and test equipment.
  • Ensure calibration schedules, records, and traceability requirements are met and audit-ready.
  • Support measurement system analysis (MSA) and continuous improvement of inspection processes.
  • Ensure traceability, accuracy, record integrity, and audit readiness of calibration activities.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality Engineers to integrate supplier quality requirements into the QMS.
  • Support supplier qualification, performance monitoring, and corrective action.
  • Drive supplier quality improvement initiatives aligned with MAS performance and customer expectations.
  • Act as a quality subject matter expert, translating standards into practical, value-added requirements.
  • Train employees at all levels on QMS requirements, quality tools, and best practices.
  • Influence process owners to integrate quality into day-to-day operations rather than relying on inspection alone.
  • Promote a proactive quality culture focused on meeting requirements, prevention, accountability, ownership and ultimately customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a quality mentor and change agent, reinforcing accountability and prevention-focused thinking.
