About The Position

This role involves conducting annual assessments of torque, process, and weld systems at various GMNA facilities, including vehicle assembly, powertrain, metal centers, and component holding plants. A key responsibility is leading torque confirmation reviews for new product programs to prevent recalls during the launch process. The position also requires acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for global quality in fastening, joining, dispense, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA), contributing to KCDS decisions, facilitating global meetings, and supporting innovation and technology projects to enhance quality systems. Travel to applicable sites throughout GMNA is extensive for audits, reviews, and problem-solving, with associated expense reporting and budget control.

Requirements

  • Leadership skills are required to be able to converse and report to Plant Staff and other Engineering Departments.
  • Comfortable presenting to large groups.
  • Ability to travel, coach, teach, and assess BIQ, Fastening, Joining, Dispense Processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 5 years Vehicle Assembly Experience (Body shop and General Assembly)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering preferred)
  • Combination of Vehicle Assembly, Body, Propulsion, and Component experience (preferred)
  • Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • ASQ / ISO certifications (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Annual GMS-BIQ Torque/Process/Weld Assessments at all GMNA Vehicle Assembly, Powertrain, Metal Centers and Component Holding Plants.
  • Lead/Conduct Torque Confirmation Reviews at GMNA Vehicle Assembly Plants for New Product Programs.
  • Assist with procedural updates to the Global Quality Manual.
  • Serve as System Matter Expert (SME) for Global Quality on Fastening, joining, dispense, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Make KCDS decisions – Responsible to help make decisions on whether items become KPC’s/PQC’s based on data provided by DRE/BFO’s.
  • Facilitate monthly global QSE fastening joining and dispense meeting.
  • Support GRA council.
  • Make recommendations and develop solutions for global read across.
  • Represent the Quality Ops organization and support MEVS on PCP and TEB updates.
  • Support and implement projects as it relates to Innovation and Technology that can enhance Quality systems.
  • Travel to all applicable sites throughout GMNA to conduct audits, torque confirmation reviews, and support problem solving when necessary.
  • Expense reporting for all travel activities and control expenses to departmental budget.
