At our Peabody, MA MRO facility, we specialize in the repair and special processing of turbine (hot section) jet engine hardware. As the Site Quality Manager, you will be responsible for overall Quality Assurance (QA) & Regulatory Compliance (RC) areas at the Peabody site. The position manages the execution of Quality Assurance objectives, lead the quality team, and set strategic and day-to-day objectives for the achievement of immediate Quality Assurance goals. In addition, this position has responsibility for compliance to include Regulatory with various domestic (FAA), foreign National Aviation Agencies (NAA’s), accreditation agencies (AS9100), etc., and internal requirements, while ensuring on-site practices uphold all necessary product and process quality requirements. You will interact across the broader Aftermarket team to leverage best practices and ensure all site requirements are maintained and improved, while also partnering with the on-site team to implement new repair development, while continuing the ongoing support of existing repair operations.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Prior Quality experience in aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience managing quality teams.
  • Previous experience with 14 CFR Part 145 as it pertains to repair station Quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and internal auditing
  • Experience serving as a primary liaison with regulatory agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration and foreign aviation authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of Quality Assurance function to include strategy and execution of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Process owner for Corrective Action, Escape Management and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Manages assigned Quality personnel to ensure tracking, trending, and analysis of data to identify initiatives for reduction of Escapes, COPQ, etc.
  • Work with the extended quality team and peers in other functional groups to drive reductions in Escapes, COPQ via root cause analysis & problem solving and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage Corrective Action Boards, Metrics & Management Review processes.
  • Manage Data, Document Control & Management processes (includes technical data) throughout the organization, ensuring compliance with necessary standards.
  • Manage and assist in developing and simplifying standard work for areas related to quality.
  • Manage the FAA Approved training program, personnel certifications, and FAA personnel rosters.
  • Manage all activities associated with supplier quality, warranty process, part purges, calibration and MRB activities.
  • Support the drug and alcohol program.
  • Facilitate the collection of data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Performs product, process, and quality audits.
  • Reviews quality data and determines if all products and processes are aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Leverage continuous improvement processes and tools (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to improve process performance.
  • Host customer, NADCAP, and QMS audits.
  • Manage domestic (FAA), foreign regulatory, QMS and NADCAP site certifications.
  • Principal FAA and other foreign aviation regulatory agency liaison for maintenance operation regulatory matters to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Oversight for the internal audit program and ensure compliance to internal and external accreditation agencies (AS9100, etc.).
  • Partner with Engineering/Operations to ensure product safety and quality through hardware release and records management.
  • May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one's skills.
