About The Position

As a Co-op in the MedTech (MT) Quality Systems and Digital Services organization, you will have the chance to collaborate with teams across J&J MedTech on software projects and software governance. You will support and/or perform validation activities for quality system solutions, including requirement development, validation planning, and software testing. You will learn and apply various software development and lifecycle management techniques, and develop and contribute to training materials including procedures and knowledge articles. This role will promote digital culture and capabilities across J&J medical devices, strengthen communication and leadership skills, and involve working with a diverse team of quality engineers, data scientists, and app developers. You will also take advantage of training courses offered at J&J and meet with Quality management to discuss risks and opportunities for respective projects. The QSDS – Quality Engineer Co-op will have the opportunity to work at and support J&J MedTech in Cincinnati, Ohio, within the MT Quality Systems and Digital Services group. You will report directly to the MedTech QS Digital Strategy and Deployment Lead, while also working with the broader team for additional assignments. Additionally, you will participate in and/or lead on-campus activities such as learning committees, volunteer events, and meet and greet luncheons with full-time associates.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited College/University pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering or a related field.
  • Be in your second year or above in school at the beginning of the co-op term in August 2026 with a graduation date after December 2026.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Authorized to work in the United States during the full duration of the co-op (08/2026 - 12/2026).
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Ability to work with other teams and individuals using virtual tools (Microsoft Teams, etc).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.
  • Previous quality related experiences.
  • Knowledge of FDA or regulatory guidance.
  • Medical related experience (previous co-op at medical device company, working volunteering at a hospital, etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, etc.).
  • Programming (e.g. R, Python, etc.) experience is a bonus but not required.
