About The Position

The Quality System Supervisor (QSS) is responsible for ensuring the quality of products or services provided to the customer through the performance and documentation of all required inspections in accordance with corresponding NAVSEA Standard Items and company procedures. The QSS documents all required repairs and communicates these issues to production to initiate corrective actions. The QSS ensures that all test and inspection documentation is accounted for and thoroughly completed prior to transfer of custody. This role requires a strong knowledge of all inspection procedures and the utilization of required measuring devices. The QSS II works directly with QAM, QSS, Task Lead and Project Manager to ensure all inspections requirements are properly identified in the Quality Workbook and works directly with Production personnel to ensure that inspections are scheduled and performed as required. The QSS III assists in managing the company QMS through review and updates of procedures and devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

Requirements

  • Possession of an active State Driver’s License is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Be able to access all US Military facilities, Homeland Security facilities and private shipyards
  • Must be physically capable to access and transverse all areas of a ship on a daily basis.
  • Lifting/moving up to and including 50 pounds
  • Routinely climbing several flights of stairs
  • Performing tasks in confined spaces
  • Experience working outdoors with temperature variations, extremely loud noises and other physical hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the quality of the product or services provided to the customer through the performance and documentation of all required inspection in accordance with corresponding NAVSEA Standard Items and company procedures.
  • Documenting all required repairs and communicating these issues to production to initiate corrective actions.
  • Ensuring that all test and inspection documentation is accounted for and thoroughly completed prior to transfer of custody.
  • Ensuring all inspections requirements are properly identified in the Quality Workbook.
  • Ensuring that inspections are scheduled and performed as required.
  • Utilizing knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items, NAVSEA Technical Specification 9090-310, MIL-STDs and MIL-SPECs to objectively review on board installations and associated Objective Quality Evidence.
  • Developing Test and Inspection Plans in accordance with Ship Installation Drawings and relevant references to be included in Quality Assurance Workbooks.
  • Generating internal Corrective Action Requests.
  • Obtaining Prism Maritime QCI Certification and training Quality Control Inspectors (QCI) on proper inspection techniques and utilization of measuring devices.
  • Conducting internal audits/surveillance to ensure adherence to company procedures/policy in the areas of quality, safety and training.
  • Confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Conducting routine shipboard site visits for spot checks and in process evaluations of installation tasking being performed and documents “as found” shipboard conditions.
  • Reviewing all data, ensuring that performance and quality of products conform to established company, International (ISO), and governmental regulatory standards and agency guidelines, and to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished material or product.
  • Recommending modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Preparing graphs or charts of data or entering data into computer for analysis.
  • Assisting in managing company QMS through review and updates of procedures.
  • Devising and implementing methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
