About The Position

This role focuses on supporting the development, maintenance, and improvement of measurement systems and procedures to ensure valid results. It involves defining and ensuring compliance with laboratory procedures, external measurement standards, and GKN specific requirements. The position requires performing inspections, instrument programming, tests, and calibrations, as well as identifying and resolving problems related to materials and manufacturing processes. Additionally, the role supports internal and external reporting for product/process validation, material approval, and customer-specific issues, while retaining documented information and test samples. The role also contributes to equipment maintenance, product audits, and laboratory continuous improvement activities.

  • Analyze Alternatives and Recommend Solutions: Works at an intermediate level to analyze potential solutions and create recommendations based on the expected benefits, costs, and overall value of the solution for key stakeholders. Typically works with guidance.

  • Experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised (over 1 year)

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, maintenance, and improvement of measurement systems and procedures to ensure valid results.
  • Support the definition of procedures for each laboratory activity (measurement, instrument programming, test, calibration) and ensure compliance to external measurement standards and related GKN specific requirements.
  • Perform required inspection, instrument programming, test, or calibration according to the defined procedures.
  • Identify and support the resolution of problems related to the material and/or manufacturing process.
  • Support internal and external reports for product/process validation, material approval, and customer specific issues or requests. Retain appropriate documented information and test samples as evidence of the results.
  • Provide measurement services and perform Product Audits to ensure compliance to product specification at all stages of manufacture.
  • Support laboratory continuous improvement activities in physical and/or metallurgical measurements of materials, components, and assemblies.
