About The Position

Tokai Carbon is a leading graphite electrode manufacturer seeking a dependable team member for their Technical Department. This role oversees the inspection and sampling of graphite electrodes, ensuring familiarity with all product inspection and measurement activities. The supervisor will also assist the technical manager in training inspection technicians on using socket gauges for socket geometry checks. This is typically a 40-hour per week position, with the possibility of exceeding 40 hours to complete tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience (generally 5 years of related industrial experience).
  • General knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to work well without close supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analysis/problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and place priorities in an orderly manner.
  • Understand quality policy and familiar with all related quality documents for all processes.

  • Ability to operate mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the inspection and sampling of graphite electrodes from all processes.
  • Assist technical manager to train all inspection technicians how to use socket gauges to check socket geometry.
  • Use all machining gauges for measurements.
  • Inspect and maintain spare parts for machine gauges to ensure they are available at all time.
  • Train inspections how to use socket geometry gauges.
  • Operate core drilling machine to extract graphite cores for sampling analysis.
  • Collect product or by-product samples for analysis when needed.
  • Access technical data base and customer specifications.
  • Identify all product flaw types correctly.
  • Perform final product inspections to comply to customer requirements/specifications.
  • Coordinate with production to arrange socket gauge shipments for calibration.
  • Coordinate with SCM to arrange shipments of graphite cores to labs for analysis.
  • Determine scrap/salvage cases brought up by production departments.
  • Fabricate match marks for production to use.
  • Perform other duties as required that are in support of the department's goals.
  • Access all quality documents and be familiar with product, process specifications, and sampling requirements.
