About The Position

This is a night shift role (5pm-3:30am, M-F) where the Quality Control Supervisor will oversee all aspects of the Quality Control Department, including supervision, quality assurance, maintenance, and accountability. The role involves testing and inspecting products at various production stages, compiling statistical data to ensure product quality and reliability.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have working knowledge of all industry welding codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of Nondestructive Examinations, and Powder Coating.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Quality Control Department in all aspects: supervisory, quality, maintenance, accountability, etc.
  • Test and inspect products at various stages of the production process.
  • Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain product quality and reliability.
  • Spend approximately 80% of time on the floor providing supervision and working with material/product, and 20% on office duties.
  • Maintain department housekeeping.
  • Train all quality inspectors.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
  • Create a positive team atmosphere within the department.
  • Provide leadership by example to the departmental team.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Carry out inspection and test activities in accordance with established quality plans, engineering specifications, and procedures.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection and/or testing of materials and products to determine compliance.
  • Record inspection and test results, indicating whether the product passed or failed.
  • Handle nonconforming product in accordance with established work instructions and quality system procedures.
  • Read and interpret Engineering drawings and Customer specifications.
  • Utilize a variety of precision and non-precision inspection and test equipment.
  • Interface with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel to interpret and define product quality criteria.
  • Operate overhead or jib crane (may be required).
  • Monitor and maintain established metrics including, but not limited to, Delivery Accuracy, Safety and Inventory Accuracy.
  • Correctly identify and segregate non-compliant material.
  • Create and submit cost reduction ideas.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with all safety standards.
  • Perform duties with little supervision.
  • Accountable for the safe working conditions of their work area.
