About The Position

The Quality Supervisor directs the activities of the Quality Control Laboratory, including training and supervising lab personnel and performing all laboratory job functions. This role involves working with customers to resolve issues related to cement quality or product delivery, generating mill tests, letters of certification, and bonding of quarry acreage. The supervisor is responsible for generating the plant daily material report, maintaining quality records, and actively participating in safety initiatives through accident investigation and reporting. Additionally, the role involves promoting safe working practices, maintaining laboratory equipment, overseeing mix changes, scheduling departments, and ensuring adherence to Internal Quality Objectives. The supervisor must stay current with the collective bargaining agreement and plant policies, and foster a cost and profit-conscious attitude among employees. Responsibilities also include performing analyses, testing, preparing special reports, and compiling the annual laboratory budget. Collaboration with the State DOT for cement approval and Federal Agencies for lab procedure and equipment certification is also required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related Technical Discipline
  • 3-5 years in an industrial environment preferred
  • Candidate should have a strong technical background with excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Direct the activities of the Quality Control Laboratory, including training and supervising all lab personnel and relieving all laboratory job functions.
  • Work with customers to resolve any issues/complaints regarding the cement quality or delivery of the final product.
  • Responsible for the generation of mill tests, letters of certification, and bonding of quarry acreage.
  • Generate plant daily material report and maintain records on quality.
  • Must be actively involved in safety by the investigation and reporting on accidents involving employees and equipment.
  • Must promote and enforce safe working practices and good housekeeping, as well as maintain laboratory equipment in working order.
  • Responsible for overseeing proper mix changes, scheduling of departments, and adherence to Internal Quality Objectives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of collective bargaining agreement and related plant policies.
  • Seek opportunities to promote and instill an attitude of cost and profit consciousness among all employees.
  • Perform analysis, testing and preparation of special reports as assigned by Quality Manager.
  • Compile the annual budget for the Laboratory.
  • Works with State DOT for cement approval and Federal Agencies to certify lab procedures and equipment.
