About The Position

As a Quality Specialist 1 at Gallo’s CalColor operation, you’ll play a key role in protecting product integrity and advancing food safety across our Central Valley facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with quality systems while partnering with cross-functional teams that are deeply committed to excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement. In this position, you’ll support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality control and food safety programs that align with corporate standards and regulatory expectations. You’ll help ensure policies, procedures, and systems are consistently applied, while contributing to proactive quality measures, lab analysis, and rapid response to quality non-conformances. You’ll collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and external partners to support audits, root cause and corrective action efforts, and certification programs such as FSSC 22000. Your work will help ensure knowledge transfer across teams, strengthen HACCP and food safety plans, and reinforce a culture of accountability and ownership. Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science Degree; OR Associate’s Degree plus 2 years of quality assurance, quality control, food safety, production, operations, winemaking or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of quality assurance, quality control, food safety, production, operations, winemaking or engineering experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Required to be 18 years or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Food Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Enology or Engineering plus 2 years of quality assurance, quality control, or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with food safety, quality systems, or packaging systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting equipment technical manuals, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Experience writing business correspondence and inspection procedures.
  • Experience presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Experience auditing processes against internal and external standards.
  • Experience with Food and Beverage industry.
  • Basic level use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
