About The Position

We are seeking a Quality & Safety Lead to build and lead a comprehensive quality control system across our shop floor. This role is responsible for developing processes, enforcing standards, and driving accountability: ensuring that quality is built into every stage of production, from incoming materials to final shipment. This is not a traditional inspection role. It is a hands-on leadership position that requires daily presence on the shop floor, working alongside production teams to improve quality, safety, accountability, and operational discipline. The successful candidate will own the quality system and play a key role in reducing defects, improving consistency, and strengthening execution across the operation.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or machining environments
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and process improvement
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to drive change and hold teams accountable

  • Experience with welding or machining is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a company-wide quality control system across all departments
  • Embed quality checkpoints into production workflows and job travelers
  • Establish inspection standards, acceptance criteria, and documentation processes
  • Standardize procedures to reduce variation and improve consistency
  • Implement first-off, in-process, and final inspection practices
  • Ensure accountability through signoffs and traceability at each stage of production
  • Work with production teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Promote a culture where quality is owned by each department
  • Establish vendor quality and receiving inspection processes
  • Develop outgoing quality checks for new customers and critical jobs
  • Manage non-conformance reporting and corrective action processes
  • Ensure all products meet internal and customer specifications
  • Build and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with visual standards
  • Develop and manage a company-wide training matrix
  • Lead onboarding and retraining initiatives tied to quality performance
  • Ensure SOPs are accessible and consistently followed
  • Track key KPIs (defect rates, rework, audit scores, compliance)
  • Publish weekly quality performance reports
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Analyze trends and drive corrective actions
  • Lead and manage the company’s health and safety program
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and compliance checks
  • Promote a clean and organized work environment
  • Integrate safety into daily operations
