About The Position

This position is responsible for monitoring and reviewing quality control data, technical problem solving in conjunction with the US Laboratory Managers, responding to clients’ technical concerns in some cases.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Excel and MS Word
  • Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with basic statistics
  • Ability to systematically analyze information and identify possible causes and consequences
  • Excellent clerical accuracy and typing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
  • B.Sc. in Chemistry (or related field)
  • Knowledge and experience with basic statistics
  • Minimum 1 year experience in chemical analysis (AAS, ICP-AES, ICP-MS, XRF or classical assaying techniques)
  • Must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate client technical concerns and quality incidents
  • Work directly with the North American Quality Team based in Vancouver
  • Liaise with local branch managers on resolving technical concerns
  • Communicate with clients on outcome of investigations and generate corrected data certificates
  • Assemble summary reports on multiple, serious and/or systematic errors for clients
  • Uses MS Excel to review data, creates charts and performs statistical functions
  • Generate and evaluate comparison data for trends, biases or problems
  • Generate and review quality control data for trends, biases or problems
  • Generate QC data and creates custom QC reports for clients using MS Excel and Word
  • Tracks and follows-up on potential contamination from high samples
  • Determine control limits for standard reference materials
  • Enter information into ALS Group’s proprietary software system
  • Coordinates Proficiency Tests and Round Robins and follows up on the results
  • Reviews, inventories and makes recommendations for certified reference materials
  • Works with lab on method validations
  • Performs audits of laboratory sample batches
  • Performs local and branch laboratory quality audits
  • Follows up on timely closure of audits
  • Reviews non-conformances for trends and brings to the attention of the manager
  • Chair the bi-weekly US Quality meetings
  • Prepare the material for quality meetings
  • Follow-up on delegated action items
  • Presents Quality Orientation to new staff
  • Updates quality documentation
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Manager
