About The Position

Emmerson Packaging, a third-generation family-owned industry leader in flexible packaging solutions, is seeking a Quality Assurance Process Technician. This full-time, permanent position supports the Quality Assurance department by managing inspection plans, monitoring production quality processes, and maintaining the data infrastructure for quality reporting across two facilities. The role has a strong operational presence on the Amherst plant floor, acting as the primary link between Quality Assurance and production teams to ensure timely identification, tracking, and resolution of non-conforming materials. Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including with production teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Able to read and interpret quality documentation, work instructions, and specifications
  • College diploma in Quality or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a flexible packaging or flexographic printing environment
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/data visualization tools
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Experience with calibration procedures and measurement equipment
  • Familiarity with SQF or other food safety certification standards

Responsibilities

  • Assigns, maintains, and monitors quality inspection plans and inspection lots in SAP for materials and SKUs across Amherst and Belleville, ensuring accurate product release status.
  • Conducts daily floor visits to follow up on materials on hold and active rework processes, coordinating with production supervisors and managers to ensure timely resolution and proper disposition, and escalating to the Quality Manager when required.
  • Owns and maintains the calibration program for the Amherst facility, performing internal calibrations, coordinating external calibrations with third-party providers, and ensuring all records are current and compliant.
  • Maintains the data infrastructure required to generate Quality Assurance performance reports in Power BI and prepares Cost of Quality reports as required, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Participation as an internal auditor when required.
  • Performs other duties as required by the Manager/Supervisor.
  • Abides by all Emmerson Packaging’s Management System policies, follows procedures, work instructions and other requirements including adherence to EH&S Act regulations.
  • Takes any necessary steps/actions to continue adherence to the Management System (quality and environmental). If the necessary steps are outside assigned authority, brings the issue to his/her supervisor.
