About The Position

The Quality Parts Inspector is responsible for verifying that purchased, fabricated, and in-coming components meet applicable drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and quality requirements before they are released for use in production. This role performs visual and dimensional inspections, accurately records results, controls nonconforming material, and works closely with Quality, Production, Warehouse, Engineering, Purchasing, and suppliers to protect product quality and support on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • At least one year of manufacturing, quality inspection, assembly, or related experience; equivalent technical training may be considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience using basic and precision measuring tools.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to enter accurate information into electronic systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively, and raise quality concerns objectively.
  • Experience inspecting sheet-metal parts, weldments, machined parts, electrical enclosures, or HVAC-related components.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), sampling plans, nonconformance reporting, and corrective-action processes.
  • Experience with ERP or quality-management systems, including SAP or a comparable platform.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects or inconsistencies.
  • Sound judgment and the confidence to place material on hold when requirements are not met.
  • Ability to prioritize inspections in a fast-paced production environment without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Effective problem-solving, organization, documentation, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective cross-functional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming, fabricated, and in-process parts and components for dimensional accuracy, material, finish, condition, labeling, quantity, and workmanship.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, inspection instructions, and acceptance criteria to determine conformance.
  • Use calibrated inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, height gauges, thread gauges, squares, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Verify critical dimensions, hole patterns, bends, welds, coatings, hardware, and other part characteristics applicable to sheet-metal and HVAC manufacturing.
  • Document inspection results accurately in required logs, forms, databases, ERP, or quality-management systems and maintain traceable inspection records.
  • Identify, tag, segregate, and communicate nonconforming material to prevent unintended use; initiate or support nonconformance reports as required.
  • Coordinate with Quality, Production, Warehouse, Engineering, and Purchasing to clarify requirements, resolve discrepancies, and support timely material disposition.
  • Perform reinspection of corrected or replaced material and verify that required actions have been completed before release.
  • Assist with root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, supplier-quality concerns, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow established inspection procedures, control plans, and escalation requirements.
  • Confirm inspection tools are within calibration, properly stored, and suitable for the measurement being performed; promptly report damaged or out-of-calibration equipment.
  • Maintain an organized inspection area and support 5S, housekeeping, and material-control expectations.
  • Follow all company safety rules, PPE requirements, quality procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Communicate inspection status, quality concerns, and potential production risks promptly and professionally.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Navigates and utilizes SAP to perform essential duties
