About The Position

The Quality Operating Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the deployment and continuous improvement of core quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA within the automotive manufacturing sector. This role involves ensuring the integration of various quality processes, serving as a subject matter expert and trainer, and maintaining compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements. The position also requires leading the implementation and sustainment of the IATF 16949 QMS, supporting audits, driving corrective actions, and analyzing quality data to present actionable insights to leadership. Management of automotive OEM portals and submission of required documentation are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus 3-5 years of quality systems experience, which includes significant experience with Core Tools, IATF, document control, portals, and analytics.
  • Advanced Excel, Power BI, SharePoint and Minitab.
  • Data-driven mindset with advanced quality data analysis and reporting capability
  • Excellent document control discipline and QMS system governance
  • Extensive experience managing customer-facing digital platforms and portals
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive systemic improvements
  • Strong auditing expertise including internal, customer, and third-party (IATF) audits
  • Ability to lead audit preparation, execution, and closure with effective corrective actions

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Health and Safety programs, including taking personal ownership over daily actions that drive to a zero (0) incident culture.
  • Live and champion the Commonwealth Rolled Products Core Values; Safety, Integrity, Customer Focus, Ownership, Excellence, and Teamwork.
  • Lead deployment and continuous improvement of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.
  • Ensure integration: PFMEA → Control Plans → Work Instructions → Inspection Plans → SPC.
  • Serve as SME and trainer across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead implementation and sustainment of IATF 16949 QMS.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Drive corrective actions using 8D and A3 methodologies.
  • Conduct Gage R&R, bias, linearity, and stability studies.
  • Ensure measurement systems support SPC and capability analysis (Cp/Cpk).
  • Integrate MSA into control plans and process validation.
  • Maintain document control systems for procedures, PFMEAs, control plans, and records.
  • Ensure revision control, traceability, and alignment with operations.
  • Support digital QMS platforms.
  • Analyze rejects, complaints, and quality trends.
  • Develop dashboards using Excel and Power BI.
  • Track KPIs such as Internal Rejections (IR), First Pass Yield (Recovery), and COPQ.
  • Present actionable insights to leadership.
  • Manage Automotive OEM portals.
  • Submit PPAPs, IMDS, 8Ds, and capacity data.
  • Ensure data accuracy and timely responses to customer issues.
  • Deploy quality systems across all manufacturing: Casting processes, continuous anneal lines, finishing and rolling operations.
  • Deploy quality systems across full QMS: Including remote support locations and labs.
