About The Position

The Weekend Quality Supervisor leads on-site quality operations for weekend production at our military communication equipment manufacturing facility. Supervises approximately 10 quality technicians and inspectors, ensuring compliance with military standards and company quality systems. Serves as the senior quality authority on-site, making independent decisions while interfacing with operations management to maintain production flow and product integrity.

Requirements

  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
  • Typically requires proficient knowledge of job area.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years quality experience in manufacturing
  • 2 years supervising quality personnel
  • Experience with inspection methods, functional testing, and quality documentation
  • Proven ability to make independent quality decisions under pressure
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 or AS9100)
  • Understanding of statistical process control and sampling plans
  • Proficiency with ERP/QMS systems (Oracle a plus)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Defense contractor or military equipment manufacturing experience
  • Electronics manufacturing background (circuit board assembly/final assembly)
  • Familiarity with DCMA oversight and government quality requirements
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQM, or CQA)
  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification/training
  • MIL-STD-105 and First Article Inspection (AS9102) experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt

Responsibilities

  • Supervise approximately 10 quality technicians and inspectors across weekend shifts
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and technical guidance
  • Ensure quality coverage across circuit board assembly and final assembly operations
  • Conduct shift briefings and coordinate priorities with operations management
  • Serve as primary quality authority with full disposition authority (scrap, rework, use-as-is)
  • Review and approve inspection results, test data, and quality documentation
  • Make real-time quality decisions to support production while maintaining compliance
  • Respond urgently to quality issues, implementing immediate containment actions
  • Coordinate with off-site support for complex technical issues
  • Partner with operations to balance production requirements with quality standards
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities for new products or processes
  • Oversee functional testing operations and resolve test-related issues
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD-105, IPC standards, and J-STD requirements
  • Initiate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) for weekend quality issues
  • Support ongoing investigations and root cause analysis
  • Prepare weekend quality reports for Senior Manager Quality
  • Provide oversight for weekend receiving inspection activities as needed
