About The Position

The Quality Management Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Memorial Laboratory Services Quality Management program. The Coordinator collaborates with laboratory management and staff, as well as staff from multiple areas to facilitate positive patient outcomes. The Coordinator ensures the program activities comply with organizational policies/procedures and regulatory and accrediting agency standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science from NAACLS accredited institution; or related field of science may be accepted with required certification
  • Certification Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology MT or MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification as an MT/MLS
  • 3 years of clinical experience as an MT or MLS with experience leading a team or project
  • Advanced knowledge of theories and practice of medical technology/medical laboratory science
  • Medical laboratory equipment uses and maintenances
  • Advance proficiency in laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Leading, organizing, and prioritizing multiple assignments and projects
  • Excellent communication to promote understanding and foster collaboration among clinical staff
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain lab equipment and automated technology, and perform manual procedures
  • Perform work accurately and thoroughly with attention to detail
  • Provide leadership within teams and support the growth and development of team members

Responsibilities

  • Participates in development and management of the Laboratory Quality Management program
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory accreditation, regulatory standards, and information management policies by providing leadership guidance to staff to ensure that quality policies, processes and procedures are established, current and adhered to by all laboratory staff
  • Oversees internal audit processes, external assessments, proficiency testing programs; document control systems, competency assessment; training and other quality processes
  • Identify training needs, as well as design and implement training programs specific to the quality system
  • Recommend best practices to maintain and improve project outcomes or laboratory functions; facilitate laboratory improvement activities
  • Analyze data, identify trends, monitor prevention and correction of quality deviations, and develop reports for management utilizing technical knowledge and laboratory experience
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and performance metrics
  • Identify and report quality issues and problems to management with recommendations for resolution
  • Establish processes and policies for effective and professional communication between laboratory staff and among other interested parties
  • Work with the safety office and hospital Quality department to align quality practices, including data analysis, monitoring of trends, prevention, corrections, and continuous quality improvement
