About The Position

At Cartamundi Dallas, a Quality Control Lead reports to the Quality Supervisor and is primarily responsible for supporting both the Quality Control (QC) team, Quality Supervisor, and the operations team in their daily activities. The Quality Lead covers for the supervisor during absences (meeting, time off, etc). The QC Lead is also responsible for overseeing and maintaining the QC sampling program, as well as supporting the Quality Supervisor with the QC training program. The QC lead will work closely with the quality supervisor, QC inspectors, as well as operators and supervisors or leads in the production areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret internal and customer product specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail is necessary.
  • Basic MS Office suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Candidates must be 18 years old to work for Cartamundi.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree (min. Associates) preferred.
  • Experience in Quality and/or manufacturing preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • SAP experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication skills are required; conflict resolution is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in the Printing Industry a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the QC sample program, including reviewing samples daily (usually from the previous day) to check for accuracy and auditing for potential errors that were missed. This also includes maintaining an organized sample archive.
  • Assisting the Quality Supervisor in creating training resources and training QC inspectors as needed.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of all production processes and inspection processes, including AQL inspection.
  • Perform process audits.
  • Responsible for product audits, which include generating a report, archiving samples, and limited customer communication regarding the outcome of the audits and delivering customer samples to clients.
  • Step in for QC inspectors when there is a gap in staffing.
  • Writing formal “notifications” (using a template) when a defect or nonconformity is discovered.
  • Reading and interpreting product specifications.
  • Assist Quality Engineers with investigations as necessary.
  • Review quality holds, assist Quality Engineers (“QEs”) and Quality inspectors with containment and disposition of quality holds.
  • Assist the Quality Supervisor with daily shift hand-off meetings.
  • Assist QC inspectors and/or QEs with AQL inspections, including organizing an AQL inspection autonomously.
  • Organizing and participating in regular 5S activities (maintaining a clean, organized work area).
  • Support operations team at a higher level than QC inspectors by assisting with project specifications, line configurations, and information resources.
