About The Position

The Quality Lead is responsible for directing and assisting quality teams in obtaining efficient operation of the quality activities. This role involves directing laboratory inspections, gauge calibration, and maintaining clear quality records, with a strong emphasis on customer focus, prioritizing quality and on-time delivery. The position also ensures a safe and healthful workplace and directs the activities of quality technicians, demonstrating a commitment to employee involvement, participative management, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
Minimum of ten years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
Must be able to read and write in English proficiently.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
Must be able to push/pull up to 30 lbs

Nice To Haves

5 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing
Supervisory Experience of at least 10 employees
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, industry standards, and customer specifications.
Ability to work on multiple tasks, have good time management skills, and communicate status.
Business management skills
Strong leadership and communication skills
Experience working with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Experience in manufacturing of aerospace fasteners
Experience or certification in Lean Manufacturing
Obtain an AS9100 Internal Auditor certification
Demonstrated commitment to employee involvement, participative management, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

Directing and assisting quality teams in obtaining efficient operation of the quality activities.
Directing laboratory inspections, gauge calibration and maintaining a clear record of quality.
Maintaining a customer focus (quality and on-time delivery are priority).
Assuring a safe and healthful workplace and directing activities of quality technicians.
Showing by example a commitment to employee involvement, participative management, and continuous improvement.
Ensuring compliance with company policies, AS9100, Nadcap, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Complying with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions.
Working in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment.
Reporting all incidents including injuries, spills, fires, property damage, and near misses to the Quality Manager, EHS Manager, and/or Supervisor.
Establishing procedures for laboratory housekeeping and 5S implementation.
Participating as a Safety Committee member and ensuring team are issuing Injury Free Event (IFE) reports.
Directing the quality teams in evaluating quality of products to meet the customer’s quality and on-time delivery requirements.
Assisting in setting and achieving productivity and quality targets for the various teams.
Preparing daily production reports, having Human Performance Meetings with team, and updating all communication boards upon review with team members.
Ensuring all required inspections and tests are performed in a timely manner.
Generating Certified Test Reports (CTR) and maintaining laboratory and inspection records.
Scheduling/approving overtime, vacations, and other personnel administrative requests.
Supporting Cross-Training needs and ensuring all areas are covered.
Coaching teams in their continuous improvement efforts.
Providing oversight and searching for order/paperwork errors prior to releasing to Shipping.
Ensuring testing equipment is operational, and any issues are remedied in a timely manner.
Ensuring all gaging/tooling is conforming and available for use to avoid any inspection delays.
Properly dispersing the workload among the technicians.
Performing other tasks as needed in support of group teams and leaders.
