About The Position

The Quality Lab Technician performs tests to support the foam pad line and seat assembly line as required. Most of the testing involves durability simulation of vehicle interior conditions. Testing responsibilities include mechanical preparation and instrumentation, test execution, data collection and post-test removal of test equipment and components. The role also involves adhering to HTGSS policies and procedures, learning and upholding HTGSS Core Values, complying with certification standards (TS16949, ISO 14001-2015, ISO 45001-2018), maintaining a positive work environment, managing the department budget, and performing additional assignments as needed. Adherence to all safety policies and procedures, including the 5S clean philosophy, is also a key aspect of the role to maintain a safe and clean working environment and meet company safety goals.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry
  • 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing quality lab environment
  • Color test required
  • Ability to work any shift needed
  • Must possess normal or corrected-to-normal vision with the ability to perceive and differentiate colors to ensure accurate quality inspections and testing.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in automotive seating manufacturing is a plus
  • Tier 1 experience preferred
  • Desired experience with Durability, Sound Evaluation, and Hardness Test Machines
  • Desired experience with Torque Wrenches, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gages, Pin Gages

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and special testing of raw materials, foam, and finished seat components.
  • Test performance of seats.
  • Inspect parts for defects, measurements, and conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct durability and density tests, H-point and static load deflection as required.
  • Accurately record test results, measurements, and observations.
  • Enter data into quality tracking systems and prepare reports for Quality leadership.
  • Communicate findings promptly to Quality Engineers and Managers.
  • Operate lab testing equipment, fixtures, and measuring devices; maintain preventative maintenance and necessary supplies.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and clean equipment according to procedures.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for repair.
  • Follow established testing procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure all testing and documentation meets customer, company, and ISO/IATF standards.
  • Maintain organized records and retain samples as required.
  • Support production and quality teams by providing timely feedback on test results.
  • Work with cross functional teams to investigate defects, non-conformances, or customer complaints.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
