About The Position

The Final Lab Quality Auditor performs laboratory testing, inspection, and documentation of finished fasteners to verify conformance with applicable customer, blueprint, and quality requirements. The position prepares and evaluates samples; operates and sets up laboratory test equipment; records and reviews results; and communicates nonconforming conditions to the Lab Supervisor and appropriate personnel. The role supports quality investigations, customer complaint documentation, and required quality submissions, with assigned duties performed in accordance with training and demonstrated qualification.

Requirements

Two (2) years of college, or experience in an industrial / manufacturing lab environment, or a combination of both.
Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and testing methods.
Computer experience required.
Due to the precision and type of equipment involved, it requires a steady hand and a good eye to prevent damage to machines or injury to self.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with automotive components and industry standards is a plus.
Fastener experience preferred.
Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

Perform final-laboratory tests and inspections on fasteners in accordance with applicable specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and evaluation requirements.
Operate and, as qualified, set up laboratory equipment, including Rockwell and Vickers hardness testers, tensile equipment, torsional yield and coefficient of friction (COF) equipment, MC 911, Nikon microscope, and stereoscope.
Prepare samples for evaluation by cutting parts on the saw, making mounts for polishing, polishing samples, and preparing parts for hardness checks and metallographic review.
Perform applicable testing and evaluations, including tensile testing, microhardness and Vickers testing, head soundness checks, MC 911 drive testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, adhesive testing, and torque-to-failure testing.
Set up the MC 911 for drive testing and create COF machine programs, as trained and qualified.
Enter parts into the laboratory backlog and release parts through SAP in accordance with established procedures; use SAP and applicable systems to locate work instructions/documentation (WID) and maintain traceability.
Review heat-treat mounts, collect required data, complete and file heat-treat data collection sheets, and review metallography as qualified.
Complete customer complaint reports and support required quality documentation, including PPAP documentation and full dimensional layouts, as trained and assigned.
Record, review, and maintain accurate test results, data sheets, reports, and related quality records; ensure required paperwork is complete and accurate.
Identify and promptly communicate nonconforming parts, test results, or process concerns to the Lab Supervisor and appropriate personnel.
Maintain laboratory housekeeping and 5S standards; handle samples, chemicals, and equipment safely and in accordance with applicable procedures.
Work with the Lab Supervisor and other departments to obtain samples, clarify requirements, communicate results, and support quality-related activities.
Participate in training, qualification, and cross-training activities applicable to the Final Lab; perform other duties as assigned.
Interact with other departments for collection, test results, and paperwork.
Perform housekeeping as necessary.
May assist in employee training programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
