About The Position

Ocean Optics is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform standardized quality control checks on company products to ensure they meet legal, environmental, and company standards for safety and quality. This role involves preparing test data, identifying areas for quality control improvement within an ISO 9001 & ISO13485 environment, and maintaining clear and concise records. The successful candidate will inspect raw materials, enter and maintain documentation in ERP and Quality Management systems, lead QMRB and Scrap meetings, create First Article Inspections, and manage non-conformances. Responsibilities also include controlling and processing chemicals, understanding internal audits and ISO guidelines, performing random inspections, observing safety rules, maintaining housekeeping with 5S techniques, and recommending process adjustments. The role requires compliance with Ocean policies to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, business goals, and environmental well-being. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of mathematical concepts.
  • Excellent visual awareness.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of basic mathematical concepts, quality tools and sampling plans.
  • Skilled in basic computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Word.
  • Technical skills and ability to understand drawings/blueprints, documents, and manuals.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize activities within an environment of fast-paced periods of competing deadlines and fluctuating workload.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to influence others to follow rules and regulations.
  • Some lifting required up to 20 lbs.
  • High standard of ethics and integrity.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or Quality certification preferred.
  • 2 + years’ experience as an Inspector or Quality Technician preferred.
  • Experience with internal auditing a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect raw materials according to quality and drawing requirements.
  • Enter and maintain documentation and records necessary in support of production processes, testing and inspection.
  • Enter data and perform transactions in ERP and Quality Management system.
  • Lead and perform weekly QMRB (Quality Material Review Board).
  • Lead and perform weekly Scrap.
  • Create First Article Inspection and follow up until a report is completed.
  • Create non-conformances in the system when rejection occurs, follow up and close them when the issue has been addressed.
  • Controls and Process chemicals.
  • Understand basic concepts of internal audits and follow ISO9001 & ISO13485 Quality management system guidelines.
  • Performing inspections at random to assess product quality
  • Observe all safety rules and maintain proper housekeeping using 5S techniques.
  • Recommend any necessary adjustments and changes to production processes.
  • Understand and comply with Ocean policies, procedures, and instructions to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, attainment of business goals, and environmental well-being.
