About The Position

The Quality Inspector is accountable for the inspection of all products and raw materials, under the direction of the Quality Manager. This role involves using various measuring instruments to check dimensions, performing mathematical computations to determine nonconformance, and ensuring work instructions are followed. The inspector will also arrange for repair or replacement of measuring equipment, support continuous improvement, and maintain an inspection stamp. Flexibility with shifts, including overtime for training and workflow maintenance, is required. Experience with DQR/SQA is preferred, and compliance with OSHA, health, safety, and environmental requirements is mandatory. The role may involve tasks not specifically listed to support department objectives and skill development.

Requirements

High School diploma or Equivalent degree required
4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
2+ years inspection experience preferred (non-aerospace acceptable)
Strong attention to detail requiring thoroughness of completing work tasks

Ability to be adaptable and flexible to changing work environment and assignments
Demonstrated dependability in fulfilling obligations

Proficient in Microsoft Office and various Manufacturing ERPs (Job Boss, Unipoint)
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The worker may be required to move, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and/or complete repetitive motions during course of work.
Visual acuity typical of administrative, operational, close assembly, inspection personnel.
Minimum standard for those preparing and analyzing data and figures, such as transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines (including inspection), using measurement devices for assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eyes.
Inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
Subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
Subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
Subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
Subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.

Responsibilities

Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments where work instructions are well defined to check dimensions and record results.
Perform necessary mathematical computations to determine extent of nonconformance and complete appropriate paperwork.
Follow proper procedures to perform inspection checks and verification of dimensions and make sure that Work Instructions are being followed.
Recognize need and arrange for repair or replacement of measuring equipment used in performing the work as necessary.
Support and promote continuous improvement activities to meet business objectives.
Must maintain Inspection stamp.
Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime.
Comply with OSHA, health, safety and environment requirements.
May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.
