About The Position

McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspector. The role inspects and tests machined, fabricated, and assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. The inspector uses precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment to inspect incoming materials, conduct in-process inspections, and perform final inspections to ensure products meet quality standards. The position also requires maintaining a safe and clean work area, documenting inspection results and non-conformances, and communicating production issues and recommended corrective actions. This is a first-shift position, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Overtime and extended hours may be required depending on customer and company demands. The work may involve heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Physical activities include standing, walking, handling tools or controls, and occasionally reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Lifting requirements range up to 50 pounds. The employee must wear appropriate PPE and be able to operate a forklift and overhead crane.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–3 years of experience in a hands-on quality role.
Experience as a QC Inspector in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Experience using quality management systems, particularly QT9.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a collaborative environment.
Ability to perform all responsibilities satisfactorily.
Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
Ability to meet physical requirements, wear required PPE, and work in heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.
Ability to work overtime and extended hours as needed based on customer and company demands.

Responsibilities

Prioritize personal safety and the safety of team members; assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including fall, respiratory, hearing, foot, hand, head, and eye protection.
Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned work area and a safe, clean work environment.
Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment that do not meet specifications.
Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and required measuring instruments.
Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet quality specifications.
Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting them.
Maintain inspection reports, discuss results with those responsible for products, and recommend corrective actions.
Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected.
Generate and document non-conformances in the QT9 system accurately and promptly.
Mark items with details such as acceptance or rejection status.
Observe and monitor production operations and equipment for conformance to specifications, and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.
Measure product dimensions with calipers, gauges, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement devices to verify conformance to specifications.
Analyze test data and perform computations as needed to determine test results.
Write routine memos and correspondence.
