Quality Inspector - 1st Shift
About The Position
This is a full-time manufacturing role for a Quality Inspector on the 1st shift. The role involves performing product testing and inspection, ensuring adherence to quality protocols, and supporting plant-wide quality initiatives. The company is a stable, growing manufacturing employer in the Dayton region, specializing in large, custom tanks and heavy fabrications, and is ISO 9001 certified and WBENC woman/minority owned. They partner with Fortune 500 OEM customers and are a preferred designer and manufacturer of certified metal tanks, skids, frames, trailers, and chassis built to world-class quality standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 20/20 vision in at least one eye and must not be color blind (Corrective lenses allowed if normally used)
- 2–3 years of experience in a related quality function
- Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to determine material types and gauges
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints
- Comfortable working in a Windows‑based computer environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift: Up to 25 lbs regularly, Up to 50 lbs frequently, Up to 100 lbs occasionally (with assistance)

Responsibilities
- Perform product testing and inspection (visual, dimensional, pressure decay, vacuum decay, etc.)
- Conduct cross‑checks at each operation stage against prints/drawings, travelers, inspection sheets, Control Plans, and visual criteria
- Issue gauges to employees and ensure all gauges are calibrated and properly identified
- Collect, document, and enter inspection results and quality records
- Monitor gauge inventory and quality‑related supplies
- Identify, document, and report nonconforming product
- Ensure all inspections and tests follow the required inspection protocols
- Train operations personnel on updated or changed quality inspection processes
- Support plant‑wide communication of Quality Alerts and quality concerns
- Exercise the authority to stop production when nonconforming parts are detected
- Assist other members of the Quality Department as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
