About The Position

The Quality Inspector – Jet Engine & Manufacturing Assembly performs detailed inspections of jet engine components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies to ensure conformance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Drawing on direct experience in jet engine operations or overhaul and manufacturing assembly environments, this individual uses a broad range of inspection tools and techniques to identify nonconformances, document findings accurately, and support corrective action efforts. This is a hands-on role critical to maintaining product integrity and airworthiness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of inspection experience in an aerospace or aviation maintenance environment, with at least 3 years of direct experience inspecting jet engine components or assemblies.
  • Background in jet engine MRO (overhaul and repair), OEM manufacturing, or military aviation maintenance (e.g., F100, F110, CFM56, CF34, PT6, T56, or similar platforms) strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of precision measurement equipment and inspection methods.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements, AS9100 QMS, and/or NADCAP audit requirements.
  • A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) mechanic certificate a significant plus; inspection authorization (IA) considered favorably.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to make independent disposition decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency with inspection documentation systems, ERP/MES platforms, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process, receiving, and final inspections of jet engine components and assemblies (e.g., turbine blades and vanes, compressor stages, combustion liners, accessory drive gearboxes, fan modules).
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, GD&T, assembly instructions, technical orders, and applicable specifications (AMS, OEM CMM, FAA/EASA airworthiness directives).
  • Use precision measurement equipment including CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, and surface profilometers.
  • Perform borescope inspections, visual inspections, and dimensional verifications on engine modules and components per approved procedures.
  • Document inspection results, generate nonconformance reports (NCRs / Discrepancy Reports), and initiate MRB dispositions in accordance with the quality management system.
  • Witness and verify critical process operations including torque application, safety wiring, sealing, and other controlled operations per work instructions.
  • Support First Article Inspection activities, providing measurement data and ballooned drawings as required.
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure all inspection tools and equipment are within calibration before use.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and assembly technicians to resolve discrepancies and disposition nonconforming material.
  • Participate in root cause analysis investigations, providing inspection data and shop-floor perspective to support corrective action.
  • Maintain thorough, legible, and accurate inspection records in compliance with FAA, AS9100, and customer documentation requirements.
