About The Position

The Quality Inspector will read and understand moderately complex to complex front elevation, wiring diagrams, Bill of Materials, and schematics to verify correct Wiring, Components, Connectors, and Structure assemblies per applicable Inspection procedure and/or component literature with the overall goal of timely order fulfillment and adherence to Eaton’s quality standards. Inspect the product produced on all lines, according to inspection work instructions and in accordance with applicable governmental requirements, to confirm the proper function of switchboards and electrical components, identify any product non-conformances, and ensure it meets customer specifications, safety, and quality requirements. Document inspections made on the applicable checklist. circuit breakers function properly. Verify torqued connections using a torque wrench, per inspection instructions. Examine and verify mating structures (all structures in a line-up) as necessary to ensure that the job is complete and field installation is problem-free (i.e. splice plate dimensions, kirk key coordination, etc.). Verify that any revisions released to the production floor regarding functionality and customer specifications are incorporated into the product, all documentation reflects the current revision and previous revisions of documents are not used/discarded. (Process and Update paperwork accurately – POM, test reports, etc.). Document and communicate non-conformances, which are critical quality records, and verify required rework to aid problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts. Communicate design errors to appropriate front-end personnel for correction, obtain revisions, and verify required rework. Serve as an informal trainer for production associates, communicate well with other associates, and build positive relationships that support job objectives and teamwork. Providing assistance particularly for complex tasks and for product requirements that may not be precisely defined (i.e. barrier placement).

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing, production, or military experience OR a degree in a technical discipline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality schematics/wiring diagrams and assembly processes on all lines. (Hi-Pot, Shunt Trip).
  • Knowledge of all assembled SWBD product designs (i.e. PRL-4, Switchboards, IFS, etc.)
  • Experience in applicable UL codes, NEC codes, regional utility codes, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret manufacturing documents, including front view, MIs, Wiring Diagrams, component literature, engineering drawings, and testing procedures.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of basic electricity, current flow, and component functionality
  • Expertise with basic hand tools, air tools, gages, and torque wrenches.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience in a Quality Inspector or Testing position in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in switchboard assembly Mechanical (Connectors) or Wiring areas.
  • Computer literate.
  • Working knowledge of Lean concepts.
  • Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Electronics.
