About The Position

STS Metals is seeking a Quality Inspector for their 2nd shift operations in Irwindale, CA. This role is crucial for ensuring the high quality of titanium, stainless and alloy steel, and nickel products served to the aerospace, medical, industrial, and space industries. The position requires the individual to be hands-on, spending significant time on the manufacturing floor, adhering to safety procedures, and inspecting all incoming, in-process, and final product. This is a full-time, Non-Exempt position classified for the 2nd Shift (2:45 pm - 11:15 pm), with the possibility of additional scheduled days and hours based on workload.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Must be able to closely follow instructions.
  • Must be able to read documents.
  • Must be able to communicate, verbally and written, with managers and coworkers.
  • Must maintain quality practices and safety.
  • Must be able to use Micrometers, Calipers, Tape Measures, Ultrasonic Thickness Gages, Gage Blocks, Depth Gages, Taper Gages.
  • Must be able to document validation results.
  • Forklift certified (or willing to become certified within 1 month of hire).
  • Must have good basic math skills and computer skills.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Must be forklift operations and safety certified.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or training in metallurgy, heat treatment, or aerospace manufacturing is preferred.
  • Aerospace Specifications a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and streamlining Maintenance and Engineering to achieve company goals in collaboration with the General Manager.
  • Inspection of all materials: incoming, in-process, and final product.
  • Completion of inspection reports and other paperwork necessary for product quality assurance.
  • Use of material handling equipment such as vacuum lift hoists and forklifts.
  • Maintaining part traceability through the completion of various logs and part followers.
  • Understanding the work order process, proper PPE use, and safety measures related to cranes, forklifts, heat, and fire.
  • Supporting production in other ways, including material handling and shipping and receiving duties.
