About The Position

As the Quality Inspector, you will perform dimensional and functional inspection of in-process, incoming, and finished products to customer specifications under the direction of the Supervisor using precision measuring equipment, hand tools, and various types of gauging. You will also perform inspection and calibration of various types of gauging and precision measuring equipment. This may include operation and qualification of CMMs, perthometers, profilometers, gear inspection equipment, and roundness testing equipment. Essential duties and responsibilities include observing all safety rules and regulations, assisting in team performance for quality, cost, and continuous improvement, and performing duties to instruct, direct, assist, and participate in activities of in-process, final inspection, and data collection. You will examine/measure instruments for wear, record the need for reconditioning, repair, or replacement, and clean or calibrate them. The role requires the ability to work from written instructions, prints, specifications, formulas, statistical data, and verbal instructions. You will also conduct reproducibility and reliability studies on gages, work as a team to assure customer requirements are met, and maintain instructions and records for receiving and final audit in accordance with internal and customer specifications. Responsibilities include checking required quantities, dimensions, characteristics, finishes, and the accuracy of gauging, prints, and charts. You will accurately complete required reports and records, participate in department and cross-functional Level 3 improvement efforts, and adhere to schedule changes to meet customer needs. Participation in the layered process audit program and ensuring assigned audits are completed on-time is also required. You will exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials, assist in training other associates, and maintain a clean and safe work area. Other duties as assigned or directed will be performed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year as an operator/inspector, inspecting and measuring precision machined components
  • Ability to use various types of gauges (micrometers, pin, ring, thread, snap, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings features
  • Must be detail oriented and customer focused
  • Able to follow directions, work instructions and procedures
