About The Position

Pro QC International is seeking a Quality Inspector with Class 4 Laser Safety expertise for a contract role in Woodruff, SC. This role involves inspecting light-tight enclosures to ensure radiation containment to Class 1 levels, verifying safety systems, checking administrative controls, and confirming PPE usage. The inspector will maintain records, report on corrective actions, and has the authority to halt operations if unsafe conditions are identified. This position acts as a compliance link between operators, management, and regulatory bodies. The project duration is TBD, and it is a 1099 contract role with potential for varying schedules based on client needs. Requirements

• Laser Safety Officer designation.
• Formally designated inspector under ANSI Z136.1 standards.
• Technical or scientific background (physics, optics, engineering, or occupational safety).
• Formal training in laser safety principles, hazard evaluation, and control measures.
• Completion of ANSI Z136.1 laser safety training.
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements and institutional policies.
• Documented competency in evaluating Class 4 laser hazards.
• Must be able to travel to Woodruff, South Carolina and nearby areas.

Responsibilities

• Inspect light tight enclosures to ensure containment of radiation to Class 1 levels.
• Verify interlocks, shutters, barriers, and warning systems are functional.
• Check administrative controls: signage, restricted access, written procedures, and personnel training.
• Confirm PPE availability and use, especially laser protective eyewear.
• Maintain inspection records and corrective action reports.
• Empowered to halt laser operations if unsafe conditions are found.
• Acts as the compliance link between operators, management, and regulatory bodies.
